Short entries written by the guides who walk these streets with our groups of 16 travellers or fewer.
The old town is compact enough to cross twice in an afternoon. We start at the Barbican, follow the royal route to Wawel Hill, then drop into Kazimierz for the second half of the day.
Evening is the better slot for the Main Market Square: the cloth hall empties out and St Mary's Basilica keeps its doors open late. Bring thin-soled shoes. The cobbles here are unforgiving.
Vienna rewards a slow morning. Walk the Ringstrasse before the trams fill, then cut inward through the museum quarter while the courtyards are still quiet.
Coffee houses are part of the itinerary rather than a break from it. Order a melange, sit as long as you like, and let the guide handle the day ticket for the U-Bahn. Group size stays capped so nobody waits on a tram platform alone.
The centre is car-free and small. We cross the Triple Bridge, climb to the castle for the view, then follow the river south past the market colonnade.
This is the shortest walking day on the route and the easiest place to add free time. Prices include all taxes and fees, so lunch on the riverside terraces is the only thing you pay for yourself.

Holders of a biometric passport travel visa-free for short stays. Officers check the purpose of travel, available funds and an onward or return booking.

You may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen area. Days count from your entry stamp to your exit stamp.
A 12-day city-hopping tour leaves plenty of room, and a second trip later in the season still works while your running total stays under 90 days.
Passport valid for at least three months beyond your return date, travel insurance with medical cover from 30,000 EUR, our route voucher, and proof of accommodation.
Residents without a biometric passport should confirm their visa status with the consulate before paying a deposit.
Children need their own passport, plus notarised consent from the parent who is not travelling. Copies of birth certificates save time at the window.
